About

I'm Jamie Birch, and this is my personal docs site.

About this site

I've worked as a software engineer for over a decade, and been an active opensource contributor for just as long. Along the way, I've learned many tricks, recipes, and gotchas, and I've realised that one's worth as an engineer is one's ability to hold all that in one's head.

So this site is a place for me to dump all that knowledge. It's primarily for myself, so some pages are relatively rough-and-ready, but in the spirit of opensource, I thought I'd make it all public for the benefit of all.

About me

By default, my spare time goes into opensource, but I also do art, photography, and am ever studying Japanese. While now I'm a software engineer, I've previously worked as a virology researcher (having done a degree in genetics) and as an English teacher, which taught me a thing or two about presenting (which I apply frequently when giving tech talks).
